Early this morning, I saw a headline on the news about German Chancellor Angela Markle stepping down after her term expires in 2021. Merkel’s reluctance to run for re-election may seem innocent enough on the surface. However, if you go dig a little deeper and look at the economic deterioration of the countries within the EU, it’s easy to see why she Merkel has decided to call it quits.
The MSM is feeding the public the story about how she’s being forced out because of the clashing of philosophies amongst other centrist and right-leaning German political parties. Merkel received a lot of criticism after she allowed a limited amount of war refugees from Syria and North Africa to pour into Germany. While the immigration issue may have played a role in her decision, I honestly believe that the weight of economic support that Germany has been giving the EU has finally bankrupted the German government. Also, with the upcoming repercussions of Brexit about to kick in, Europe as we know it is about to become a dystopian wasteland. Knowing all this, could you really blame Merkel (or anyone else for that matter) for heading to the life rafts? Nah....me neither.
