Fuzzy Math: Why the circumstances surrounding the VA Amtrak crash doesn't add up?
Earlier today, I saw news coverage of the Amtrak train crashing into a garbage truck in rural Virginia. The only casualty in the crash was the driver of the truck. But after seeing the initial report, a couple of important questions immediately came to my mind. First, why in the world were hundreds of Congressman taking an Amtrak train to a particular location when they could have taken their own transportation, i.e. private jets, helicopters or convoys? Any other time, they wouldn't hesitate to waste millions of taxpayer dollars to avoid contact with the common folk on commercial planes or trains. All of a sudden, they want to ride a train to a "party conference" in West Virginia. This tidbit brings me to my next question: Why the hell did members of Congress thought it was a good idea to party and bullshit at some retreat when they should be working on a resolution to keep the U.S. government running past February 8th??? I'm going to assume that these questions will fall on deaf ears since they make too much sense. If (or should I say when) there's ANOTHER government shutdown on Feb 9th, you'll know exactly why.
